The short version.
- This site sets no cookies and has no forms, accounts or newsletter.
- It counts visits without identifying you, and measures how fast pages load.
- The intro video only contacts YouTube if you press play.
- Your data is never sold or used for advertising.
Who is responsible
Octavian Rotaru, an independent creative strategist based in Chișinău, Moldova, runs octavianrotaru.com and is responsible for the personal data processed through it. You can reach him at rotaruoctavian22@gmail.com.
What happens when you visit
Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web server, it receives the technical details your browser sends with each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that sent you, and the time. These are needed to deliver the page and to protect the site against abuse. Vercel processes them on Octavian’s behalf.
Visitor statistics. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and records the referring site, country, browser, operating system and device type. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visits are not linked to you as a person or followed across other websites. According to Vercel, a visitor is represented only by a hash computed from the request, which is discarded after 24 hours.
Page speed. Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load, together with the page address, device type, browser and country. It also uses no cookies.
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for these three is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): running a secure website and understanding, in aggregate, how it is used.
The intro video
The video at the top of the page is hosted on YouTube. Until you press play, your browser makes no request to YouTube or Google at all: the preview image is served by this site. When you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and Google receives your IP address and device information under Google’s privacy policy. Loading it is based on your choice to press play.
Booking a call and email
“Book a call” opens Calendly, a separate scheduling service. Whatever you enter there is processed by Calendly under its own privacy policy and shared with Octavian so the call can be arranged.
If you email Octavian, he receives your address and your message and uses them to reply to you and, if you go on to work together, to carry out that work. The mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail). The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or a legitimate interest in answering you.
What this site does not do
- No cookies, and nothing stored in your browser.
- No advertising pixels, no Google Analytics, no cross-site tracking.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data for marketing.
- No profiling and no automated decisions about you.
Where data is processed
Vercel, Google and Calendly are based in the United States, so data may be processed outside your country. Those providers protect such transfers with the safeguards set out in their own terms, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long it is kept
Emails and booking details are kept while your enquiry, and any work that follows from it, is ongoing, and are deleted once they are no longer needed, unless the law requires keeping them longer (for example, for accounting). Visitor statistics exist only in aggregate. Server logs are retained by Vercel for a limited period for operation and security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive a copy in a portable format. Write to rotaruoctavian22@gmail.com and you will get a reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
